The beautiful dining room
The Grant Homestead is conveniently located at 6186 State Route 434 just off Route 17 (exit 66) in Apalachin, New York. This home, built about 1850 has the charm of a country home, and was originally part of the Holmes Farm. This home is adjacent to the Barton home and was once occupied by the tenant farmer on the Holmes Farm.

"Down on the Farm" bedroom

When entering the front door of the Grant home, the community room on the left welcomes everyone to the heart of the home. Warm knotty pine paneling, wood floor, and an oak fireplace makes one feel as if they are entering a cabin in the woods. Yet as a visitor moves on to the large kitchen, the feel of a French country side welcomes them! Cherry cabinets, ceilings with wooden beams, and a small Ben Franklin stove are a part of this lovely scene. Moving on to the private Oak and Wilderness bedrooms, again one feels the call of the wild! The Oak room is filled with acorns, and warm pine paneling. The Wilderness room is an Adirondack cabin. Both rooms have their own private ½ bath, and feel very warm and cozy. Off the main entrance hall is located a lovely handicapped bathroom with large handicapped shower, and on down the hall is found the Down on the Farm semi-private bedroom. Chickens, barns and the picture of “American Gothic” couple adorn the farm room and welcome one to its cheerful existence.

The cozy community room
Passing through the Community room, and on through a short hallway leads one to the library and two more bedrooms located in an addition. The cozy Nest is a private room with birds sailing along the tops of the walls. The warm, yellow Patio room is set for two with its own sliding glass door leading to a small private garden. Lovely spring bulbs and lilacs bloom here, and our residents bloom also in this lovely country home.
